Amazing place! The best vegan/vegetarian food I ever had! Best crew ever! You should try!
We LOVE Bloodroot! Both Selma and Noel are 2 very cool and kind women. This restaurant is a lovely retreat. Everything about it from the quiet location with the view on the water, to the very cool feminist bookstore, to the fun, earthy and interesting decor of items and old photo's of women all along the wall to Noel's EXCEPTIONAL cooking and Selma's wonderful hospitality. We love the non pretentious atmosphere, the easy breezy way and the food never disappoints!
The food is alright at best, yet priced like a vegetarian joint in NYC. I was underwhelmed by the portion and the quality of my food. No flavor at all and my food felt like plastic.
Second. I understand that this is a feminist spot, which I think is great. But that doesn't mean you have to automatically have a poor attitude toward the men who come in. There was one lady at the front door who was a sweetheart, but the rest of the ladies were not very kind.
Will not be coming back here. A shame too because the location is great
The world needs more restaurants like Bloodroot. It oozes with history and funk. And the food was as hearty, inventive, and sumptuous as vegetarian food gets. Not for the closed-minded, only the open-hearted. Held a working lunch here. We both had a special tea, and "burgers". Everything about this place is good, great, and fun. The staff are ultra friendly, the food is very tasty, and the desserts are one of a kind.
Great environment and people. Cute space and bookstore by the water. I was met with a down to earth feel that was perfect for the poetry being read at my table. The food was heavenly and made with love, especially the vanilla bourbon ice cream. An excellent spot for vegans and will absolutely be visiting again with friends. Thank you very much!!
