Review #100! My family and I stayed a couple of weeks ago and we are going back soon. I found them on hipcamp, but they also have their own site where you can check availability of specific sites.
If your rig is long, the park staff will help you get in. I was a little concerned about navigating through the narrow roads, but in the end, it was no big deal.
Access to the Llano river is easy. The rock formation there forms a ramp leading right into the water. Think of it almost like a boat ramp, but less steep and put there a couple million years ago.
Across the river from the camp (there's a narrow highway bridge), there is a large island in the river. We took our ATV to put around on out there, and that was a blast too.
I recommend this place. I did take off a star because one part of the road was closed off to us because a large group rented all the space. I needed that area to get my RV turned around to leave. I got a temporary pass so I could get through. There was also some drama with that large group's behavior. Not the fault of the park operators, but it still took away from the experience.
Great place on the Llano River. Friendly campers & helpful staff. Nice "common areas" with hammocks & and large fire pit with seating. Cozy sites with rock fire ring & wooden picnic table - some even have stand alone grills. The place to go to enjoy river activities and make new friends. We were in a full hookup site - #2 - with our TT.
Have stayed here now a few times. Bob and Marsha are wonderful hosts. This remote park is quiet and beautiful. I love it so much, I almost did not want to write a review. The secret is out now.
We had a great time! Lots to do in the area, clean sites and nice view overlooking the Llano River. Felt small and secluded with added bonus of full hookups. We will definitely be back!
